Personal Horoscopes

For best results, read for your ascendant/rising sign. If you don't know your ascendant, you can calculate it here.

Aries You may be experiencing some contraction around publishing lately. You might be getting a surprising number of rejections, or you might be feeling like there are fewer opportunities to publish that are appropriate for you. You may also feel a change in the wind and choose to step back. If you've been defining yourself by what you publish, though, this may be a painful experience for you. But it isn't permanent, and in the difficulty this week there is an opportunity to use the space that isn't taken up by the hassles of publishing to expand your daily practice, to write about things that light you up instead of just because you think they're publishable, to spend time with the people you're closest to (secretly gathering new material). If you take advantage of this time, you'll come out of it more mature and more clear on what's in this whole writing thing for you.

Taurus "Play is difficult" is a sentence only a real adult can understand, but it may be the theme of this week for you, Taurus. There are a lot of things going on in your writing life that don't feel playful. You may be exploring some dark themes. You have that ongoing difficulty with publishing. You're likely finding it difficult to get in the playing mood, and you might find it a lot easier to escape into pleasure and call it "play time" instead, but if you can actually play like a kid, you'll be amazed by how much things can change for you--especially if you can figure out a way to work it into your daily routine and make it a habit.

Gemini You have the opportunity this weekend to bring an artfulness and beauty to your calling that is spiritually profound. Or, you can get drunk, rock the house at a reading or poetry slam, and fall into a beautiful stranger's bed. The stars are equally supportive of each.  If you could choose one of these images to sum up your general approach, which would it be? Which do you want more of in your life? Honesty is, as always, your greatest ally here, Gemini.

Cancer Since last summer, you've been going through a time that generally supports anything you want to do to expand your writing practice. If you haven't taken advantage of this opportunity or want to buckle down and recommit, this is a great week to set that intention. It may be difficult. Wishing won't be enough. You'll have to do the work, and you may feel extra burdened by adult responsibilities, but if you can find a way to hack it, you'll be glad you did.

Leo This is a week of manifestation for you in your writing practice. Seeds you planted, ideas you started generating, projects you started working on about six months ago are getting ready to bloom. As this cycle starts to wane, and you begin to prepare for the next one, now is a good time to explore, reconnect with your passions, play around with new ideas for things to publish. The keyword here is play. The time to get serious and strategize will be in a month or two.

Virgo This is a relatively quiet week for you on the writing front, Virgo. If there is drama (of the good or bad kind) in your practice, odds are the source isn't writing itself but spill-over from elsewhere. If that doesn't keep your hands full, this is a good time to do some personal development work. Spend some time with your journal. Muse on your dreams. Read old work and celebrate all the growing you've done in the past 6 months.

Libra You've likely been going through a time recently when you're experiencing some blocks in your writing process or, maybe, it's taking more effort than it used to. This week, though, you have an opportunity for a bit of a break. The trick to taking advantage of it, though, is to focus on writing as a healing practice and work as much as you can on passion projects. This is a time when your voice is maturing. You're becoming more who you really are as a writer, and part of that is making sure that your work is supported by your interests, desires, and passions, and obsessions. You may need to do some healing to come to peace with what you're really interested in, but you're well-placed to make some progress on that this week.

Scorpio You're in a time in your life when it serves you well to think big about your goals for the future. This week, you may find yourself having a difficult time believing that you'll ever have the resources you need to meet your goals. If you can find a way to blast through that, though, you have the opportunity this week to put together a writing routine that supports the work you need to do developing your craft and ties in with things you're passionate about.

Sagittarius Since last summer, you've been going through a time in your life where stepping into your calling in a bigger way is generally supported. At the same time, though, you've been learning some hard lessons about what you need to do to mature into the kind of person who can do what you're here to do. This week, the tension between who you want to be and who you are could be intense. If you find yourself in that situation, though, the answer isn't to just grind along through it. You'll actually get further along if you can write about what you're going through in a playful way.

Capricorn This week has the potential to be a beautiful time for you, Capricorn. You're reaching the culmination of work you started about six months ago at the same time as you have the opportunity in your writing practice to do work that is beautifully divine. If there's anything likely to keep you from accessing these things, Capricorn, it's your own issues and delayed healing work you need to do. If that's true, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. It will most likely show up on the publishing front. The key, though, isn't to ignore what you're feeling and grind ahead, anyway. The difficulty you're experiencing is a sign that there's work to do, ways in which you need to mature in order to publish the work you're capable of. Not that you've ever been afraid of a little hard work.

Aquarius This is an excellent week for getting a lot of writing done, Aquarius, especially if you can work on things you're passionate about and that move your goals forward. If there's anything likely to hold you back from going full-steam ahead, it's some inner work you've been doing, places you're learning to surrender and recognize that it's not possible to meet your goals alone. If you've integrated the lesson and want to take a giant leap forward, keep an eye out for spiritual artistic types who can serve as a resource for you.

Pisces This is a relatively quiet week on the writing front for you, Pisces. You have the opportunity to make strides communicating about things you're passionate about, but the influence is a quiet one, one you're unlikely to notice. And, frankly, maybe you shouldn't notice it. Sometimes nothing seems to be going on because you're exactly where you're supposed to be.

All times Los Angeles/PST.
