"Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no trouble, noise, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart." - Lady Gaga

Big Transits are happenings in the sky that last for more than a few weeks. The longer a planet stays in one place, the longer it has to build up power. Since we can't spend all our time star gazing, these are the events that I believe are most worth attention.

It has been a long week with lots of transits. With the exception of the happy dance we threw on the 9th when Mercury went direct, most of the the things we've had to ponder have been serious, too.

Additionally, there have been two transits that would usually be barely worth noticing. The first was the opposition between Mars and Neptune on Tuesday. Today, we have another: the Sun in Libra opposing Uranus in Aries, a transit that would normally be only a blip in the sky if not for its timing.

No matter how you do the math, the Nodes' transit of Libra and Aries is over after today. This Sun/Uranus aspect is like the grand finale. The Sun, seat of the self and the ego in Libra the peace-lover, opposes revolutionary Uranus in Aries the god of war.

For the past 18 months, we've all been invited to become students of peace and to find ways to eliminate outmoded conflicts from our lives. Is your life more peaceful than it was 18 months ago? Are you more tactful and polite? Do you feel more poise and inner calm? Are there places where you've given up the either/or battlefield and come to appreciate both sides? Have you been like a soldier coming back to the ordinary world and relearning how to live in peace-time? Did you make good art?

If you can answer, "Yes," to any of these questions, take a moment to celebrate the ways in which you have become peace--even if you don't feel ready to let this transit go, even if you feel like you still have a long way to go.

If you've found this transit especially difficult, don't worry. Courage is one of the things that binds Libra and Aries together. Sometimes learning to be peaceful in Libra is a matter of holding very still inside while the revolution swirls around you. Sometimes the revolution is inside you, and courage is simply riding it out.

You've made it this far. That's courage enough.
